I did this drawing from Degas' painting,
Absinthe Drinkers. These two really seem to dig one another! The artist's cigarette can be seen coming in to the picture on the lower left, just above the ashtray in the foreground. Brilliant. The artist is there, out of the scene, observing. A voyeur moment where two miserable characters avoid interacting with one another. They are at a complete utter loss with one another... so they drink. I think we all can relate, to some degree!
